May Updates, Coffee Morning & Fundraising News

As we move through May, there’s plenty happening at the Centre and lots to look forward to over the coming weeks.

From community events and fundraising updates to important reminders about making the most of your sessions, this month’s newsletter keeps you up to date with everything going on.

☕ We’re starting the month with our Coffee Morning on 5th May, 10:30am–1pm, and everyone is welcome to come along for a relaxed chat, a cuppa, and a friendly catch-up.

We’ll also be joined by Rebecca from Disability Assist, a charity that supports disabled people and those living with long-term health conditions. They offer practical information, advice and guidance tailored to individual needs, alongside peer support and advocacy.

If you or someone you know could benefit from Rebecca’s knowledge and advice please feel free to drop in, ask questions, and connect with useful local support in our relaxed and informal setting.

Congratulations to Nikki M who was the lucky winner of our Easter Raffle 🐣🎉 The raffle raised a fantastic £82 towards the Centre.

A special mention as well to Lesley’s Easter Knits, which raised an amazing £107 – thank you to everyone who purchased knits or raffle tickets.

Please note that our Summer Fete has been rescheduled to Sunday 26th July due to limited volunteer availability.

We really appreciate your understanding, and we’re looking forward to seeing as many of you there as possible for a great afternoon of community, fundraising, and fun!

We’re now gratefully welcoming donations and volunteers to help make the day a success.

If you’re able to support us, we’re especially looking for raffle prizes, bottles of wine and spirits, gift sets, unwanted presents in good condition. Every donation, big or small, really does make a difference and helps us raise vital funds for the Centre.

We’re also looking for friendly volunteers who can spare a little time on the day (or beforehand) to help with setting up, running stalls, or supporting activities. It’s always a brilliant community event and a great way to get involved and be part of something positive.

Last-minute cancellations have a real impact on the Centre and the people we support. When a session is cancelled at short notice, it often means that space goes unused, even though there may be others waiting for treatment.

In March alone, we had 53 last-minute session cancellations—around 1 per session 😮 This added up to £1,060 in lost funds and, importantly, meant valuable appointment slots could not be offered to other members who may have needed them. That means so far this year, not including April, we have already had 130 cancellations within 24 hours of the session time.

We would also like to gently remind everyone about arriving on time for appointments. When sessions start late, it can reduce treatment time and has a knock-on effect on the rest of the day’s schedule, as well as potentially impacting our therapists and other members. Arriving promptly helps ensure you receive the full benefit of your session and keeps everything running smoothly for everyone.

Thank you so much for your continued support and understanding.

Have you ever wondered why we ask you not to fast on days you use the chamber?

It’s important that patients avoid fasting before hyperbaric oxygen treatment, as doing so can affect blood flow and may lead to low blood sugar levels. This can increase the risk of side effects, including seizures.

Having regular food and maintaining stable blood sugar helps support your body during treatment, making sessions safer and more comfortable, and ensuring you get the best possible benefit from each visit.

Don’t forget to keep an eye on our 2026 fundraising target!

We’re working towards a £20,000 goal for 2026. As a charity, we depend heavily on fundraising and donations to cover our day-to-day costs and keep services accessible.

If you haven’t already, take a moment to check out our progress and see how close we are… and thank you for being part of it 💙
